…are in season! Last week I just couldn’t get my nails clean – it took me nearly a week to realise it walnut juice! Everyone is walking around with really black hands where they have sat taking the green outer bit off the walnuts. I have about 6 huge walnut trees – must buy some Marigolds but how cool to have a couple of sacks of walnuts to eat.
The trees are loaded with fruit so there’s a lot of harvesting to be done before the winter comes. There’s the apples in the picture, and there are also hundreds of small peaches just getting ripe in the trees outside the house. Don’t know what I’m going to do with them all.
I need to do more research about compost toilets – there are a few things about the practicalities that I don’t get so it’ll have to wait until the spring.
Had a great thought about the showers – I’m going to grow willow in the grey water run off. It’ll help to filter the water – have to encourage people to use organic products – and I’ll have a crop of willow every year for sculptures and fences. Must get Ailsa out to do some willow weaving.
